Mich's 21st

many missing days from this blog now adays... arrgh, just have no time to sit down and write anything.. haha. but i will finish before i leave for new york this wednesday.. :)

so the most recent 'happening' was mich's birthday! it was held at aqua marine at Marina Mandarin.. the spread of food was good.. though the huge spread may have slightly compromised on the quality of some of the food.. the grill in particular was quite disappointing.. the bamboo clams were actually sandy!! :X but yes, the cold crabs were excellent, as was the lamb and the cod.. :) the desserts were quite good as well.. :)

this has to be the highlight of the party: THE SUBARU WRX cake! haha.. it is totally realistic and looked so nice no one could bear the thought of eating it.. haha. it even has mich's car plate number!

after the party at Aquamarine, my JC classmates and mich headed down to Villa Bali for drinks! its this really nice secluded spot at Malan Road, near Keppel area... the landscaping is great.. and its got a really unique feel.. :)




we popped open a bottle of Chivas and had ginger ale and coke mixes.. it tasted quite good.. and mich is actually quite read in this pix.. she prefers her chivas on the rocks u see.. haha. and the left over was given to her for her birthday as well seeing as she loves her alcohol.. ;)

Unfinished Business

i am, waiting for my hair to dry.

meanwhile, i shall comment on my unremarkable days. they are long but well, i am enjoying them more. after seeing real live pple, and being able to talk to them, i find my education far easier to stomach, then day after day of staring a projector screen, listening to old men/women rambling, incoherently and hypnotically. and i mean hypnotic in a sleep inducing way, not in an awe inducing manner.

and so, the reason i am still waiting for my hair to dry, would be the fact tt i went to watch pirates, the incredibly long and unsatisfying ending to the trilogy. if i didn't love the first movie SO MUCH, i must say tt i might have been even more disgruntled than i am! the plot was a little illogical at times, and the 'wit' way too cheezy. the story wasn't tt well narrated either, though i felt it was a huge improvement over the previous mind boggling installment. well, at least they still kept the charm and mystique of captain jack sparrow intact.. ;)

well, i do have more to say actually, but my hair is drier.. so good nite folks. i'll update this soon i guess.

A Not So Interesting Observation..

i just realized tt in 04, i blogged almost everyday, or at least every 2 days.. this year, i averaged about once a week.. there were 4 posts each in april, march, feb.. and, then last year, i blogged once every 3 days or thereabouts.

has my life as i know it sunken into a new low of boringness??

hmmm, with 3 friends overseas and 1 on a very long sick leave.. i sorta get a glimpse of my possible future life with all my good friends overseas in uni.. haha. well, this is just a v random thought..

?? Uninspired title.

somehow, i do not feel i can produce any decent prose now a days. all the dull stony humor present in medical textbooks is killing any semblance of social skills that i have in me.

so anyway, last week was an extremely busy one, one which i managed to catch up with quite a few pple.. :) met up with my TJ friends at Thai Express.. it was all laughs, even after the longest time.. i miss meeting up with u guys! haha, and since we stay so near to each other, we really should meet up more often and tickle each other like we always do.

after a really long dinner, which, was of course prolonged by the fact we always have to wait for the 2 guest stars to arrive, fashionably late - at least an hour usually, we decided to head for dessert. there were half priced cakes at cafe cartel, with half satisfying tastiness as well. and we had ordered too many cakes, and had to resort to playing semi retarded games, like chai quan to redistribute the cakes into our filled up tummies.

the game was all laughs. i laughed so hard, i actually teared. we seriously all degenerated into little children, and christine's little arguments with silei was really primary sch-ish.. TSKTSK! but i love u girls for tt.. :p haha. they went to Kbox after dinner, but sadly, i had such early morning clinicals the next day, and had to give it a miss. sighs, why are so many pple having hols except for me??!

then on tues, i headed over to nick's place for a game of command and conquer as well as some dinner.. was doing some last minute catching up before nick flew off to Ukraine. his command and conquer is ridiculous! it just restarts the com after running for random periods of time. i did manage to finish a game though, so i was somewhat satisfied with the game anyhow.

several not so late days later, on friday, i headed down to watch some tennis matches. hmmm, shi and al were there to entertain as we watched gary play a tactically unsound match.. :p yes, full marks for effort though, but in the end, their team advanced, so all was well despite the lost. and shi was SO BITCHY. haha.. but somehow, bitchiness = funny.. :) supper was YUCKS, thanks to someone with really bad taste in food... ahem. all sorts of excuses, but we all know the food is just lousy.. :X

mother's day was good.. stayed home w mom as we had already celebrated with a dinner the night before.. :) haha, she seems to like the present.. so tt's good i suppose! well, this weeks is gonna be equally tiring. its impossible to wake up so early everyday!! SIGH.

the place was really nicely decorated and looks really nice.. :) the dessert was yummilicious! and the food in general v good.. one of the nicest parties this year to date.. :) yes, this pix doesn't really do the place justice.. i was too busy eating and talking to take many pictures.. haha

this was nick making a wish.. the 21 was supposed to be pop up, but somehow, it melted the moment the candles were lit and promptly fell onto the cake. haha. stupid nick refused to make a speech.. TSKTSK!

after the party, where i got to talk to many pple i dun get the chance to talk to v often, like my pri sch friends or my JC friends, we headed to the complimentary hotel room they gave us. it was big and nice, just like i remembered it to be when i stayed there during prom nite.

sheng xiang, matt, weili and i played texas holdem throughout the nite. i left at abt 5.30am, dead tired and all, and of course i fell sick the next day (and for the rest of the week as well). but tt's another story. yup, it was a v up and down game, full of exciting all out bets between me and matt.. and our recklessness landed both of us in debt at the end of the game with nick and sx landing a tidy sum of money.. :X bah, all for the fun... :p

well, recently its just been clinicals, which are ok.. long, and sometimes fruitful.. but lessons are somewhat unstructured, and it can be frustrating when u are not getting much out of the time invested. i can only hope it gets better. but life looks to be extremely busy in the future.. oh well!

managed to catch phantom of the opera last week.. it was FANTASTIC! the singing may not have been the best, but the amazing sets more than make up for everything. WOW. the sets are super elaborate, and there were so many pyrotechnics! yeah, the crashing chandelier, the scene in the cave with the set illuminated by candles.. SWEET! and the Masquerade scene - all the psychedelic costumes.. truly a feast for the eyes.. :) there were at least 8 sets each intricately designed, and the change from one set to another was so fast.. i was really awestruck! pity the West Side Story i caught was nothing like tt..

well, other activities of the week would include losing my match at the tennis tournament.. haha, lameness. i played so bad, and my opponent was good enough to may me pay real heavily for it. ah well, at least i had a nice dinner and KTV session after tt. as usual, time spent with kat, shi and gary is just a blast and i soon put my disappointment behind me.. :p thank you guys from coming down, of course including aud, claire and yuan too. feel really bad you guys had to endure tt crap.. :X haha, but am grateful for your support. thank you so much.. :)

this was followed by a totally unhealthy supper with weili and aud.. :p the HK Cafe is really yummy. we should go for more supps! haha.. the fried carrot cake, noodles, desserts and the milk tea float were so good, it didn't matter they were so sinful. thinking of supper makes me feel hungry again.. LOL.

arrgh, somehow my life feels like one big catch up race. i've so much reading to do (yes much cause its uncountable), and some many tv shows to watch. why why why am i sooo slow??!

blah.

its not been the happiest few days. granted, there are days tt were filled with fun activities, and logically i should be happy at the end of the day, but sometimes i'm just not. guess things dun work this way.. not sure if its the lack of slp, my illness tt is gone, or whatever, but bah.

not being incredibly articulate here, but what can u expect from someone who does read? his vocab would naturally be stunted.

still too lazy to do nick's bday party, but i shall talk abt 2 movies i watched.. Fracture and Spiderman 3. haha, both are really good.. Fracture has a rivetting plot tt leaves you guessing.. i didn't manage to figure out how the villain did what he did till they showed it plainly on screen. but, it was rather ingenious, so.. i dun feel tt dumb. i highly recommend this movie!! the food republic at vivo is just packed! incredible how long it took to get food or seats. dinning time is akin to a restaurant's! spiderman 3 is the blockbuster it promises to be.. great special effects, with cool villains (though not as gd as the goblins) and a lil romance thrown in. dun expect tt much from the plot though.. haha.

also went to zouk ytd.. him, not tt crowded, surprisingly. they are definitely lying abt how MOS and St James aren't stealing away their business. its the usual throbbing, writhing mass of pple, with a feel couples showing too much PDA thrown in. highly annoying. food at SPIZE was good, esp the nasi sth or sth nasi..

been wanting to get some tennis in over this break, but no such luck. arrgh. frustrating.
